Clapham School’s Explorers classes correspond to traditional pre-school and kindergarten-age classes.
Even as young Explorers, these Clapham School students come to experience the true, good and beautiful, and through
the guidance of their loving teachers, come to know Christ––the source of all truth, goodness and beauty.

EXPLORERS I

Our Pre–K class.
3 half days a week; increasing to 4 in ’18–’19.

• Students engage in daily, purposeful phonemic awareness development.

• As students memorize and manipulate the 70 phonograms of the English language, they begin the journey of learning to read.

• Penmanship skills develop through a multi-sensory approach that includes sky-writing to get large motor skills involved.

• Children listen to “Living Books” filled with literary language, rich vocabulary and ideas that engage the mind.  Their discussions of these texts aid their comprehension and oral composition.

• Number sense is nurtured through the Singapore Math Curriculum.

• Through Artist and Composer Study students are exposed to terms, instruments, and pieces of art to appreciate beauty and develop skills of observation and listening.

• Teachers, parents and children work together to foster the habits of attention, obedience, responsibility, kindness and careful work.
