B.A. Elementary Education and Spanish from Wheaton College
M.S.Ed. Literary Education from Northern Illinois University
Experience
Having dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood, Emily graduated from Wheaton College in 2002 and taught in the public schools for ten years. She combined her love for Spanish and young children by teaching in the bilingual education classroom at various grade levels in Aurora. After receiving her master’s, she taught as an E.S.L. and bilingual literacy specialist across the elementary grades in Naperville. Six months pregnant with her first child, she resigned to become a full-time mom in 2012. Shortly thereafter, she began homeschooling her own children. When her oldest was three years old, she started leading an elementary Spanish co-op class from her home and began deploying the classical method of education for her own children. She later joined the Greenhouse community for four years as a classical home educator and thoroughly enjoyed discovering more of the beauty of a classical education.
Interests
Outside of caring for her home and children, Emily enjoys taking nature walks, searching for creatures, and swimming with her family. She loves to read good children’s literature, sing and play the piano. Currently, she’s pursuing her love of language by learning Latin.
Church
Emily and her husband Jeff and four children are members at Christ Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, and are deeply grateful to gather each Lord’s Day to worship our GREAT GOD.
