We Dedicate This Space to You, Lord

Photography by Wes Craft

On August 16, 2025, Clapham School officially kicked off the celebration of their 20th year, and also the completion of the new playground!

The following is the beautiful invocation by our own Class Two teacher, Andree Escobar.

O Lord, we come before you today in gratitude for all the ways in which You continue to clothe Your lovingkindness over our little—yet, growing school.

We come to You, O Giver of this and every good gift,

You, who are Creator of all that is beautiful and true.

You, who are deeply intentional about shepherding Your own,

To bring You glory for the transformation of this place of play.

You, O Lord, have set within the heart of childhood a need and delight in running and leaping,

In shouting and singing,

In imagining and exploring.

You, O Lord, have shown us that wonder, work, and rest,

study and play,

Are all sacred when offered unto You.

Bless, we pray, these sturdy structures and spaces

That here, growing bodies and spirits may be strengthened,

Wonder awakened,

Friendships forged,

Tenderness nurtured,

Imaginations soar,

As Your peace permeates over every single person.

May the pure laughter that echoes forth be as music to Your ears,

May every game cultivate cooperation, courage and care for one another.

May relationships reconcile here,

May the senses You have given us feast under the warmth of Your Son

May every gleeful shout be a hymn of praise,

May every step taken be a celebration of health and life,

May the cool breeze bring gentle whispers of Your truth over all who play and leisure here.

O Lord,

You have taught us that children are a treasure: a worthy investment.

We ask You to guard all who gather here,

Keep them safe in body, mind and spirit.

Help this space be a small reflection of Your kingdom:

A place where righteous love reigns,

Where joy and justice overflow,

Where our souls are welcomed, known and loved.

We dedicate this place to You,

Lord of life and love,

And pray that all who gather here

May find refreshing recreation and repose,

Until the day when we run towards and rejoice in Your presence forever.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Amen.
