Senior Theses 2026

This week, our seniors Josie, Taline, Tia, Phoebe, Jack, and Anna all successfully defended their Senior Theses! The capstone of Clapham’s rhetoric program, the Senior Thesis takes over a year to research, compose, prepare, and defend.

Josie Etzel's presentation was entitled, "Engendering the Vision of Scripture: A Case for Women's Ordination."
Day one's panel included Rev. James Arcadi (Rector, All Souls Anglican); Dr. Patrick Egan (Clapham Academic Dean), and Mrs. Jessica Sanders (Clapham Board Member)
Taline Labib's thesis was entitled, "Lonely People in Crowded Rooms: Fighting for True Brotherhood in a Detached Generation."
Tia Labib's thesis was entitled, "That They May Be One: The Church Fathers as Guides Toward Church Unity."

Phoebe Johnsen's thesis was entitled, "Playing God: The Ethical Dilemma of Gene Editing."
Day two's panelists included Dr. Paige Cunningham, Executive Director Emeritus of the Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity at TIU, Mr. Kolby Atchison (Clapham Head of School), and Mr. John Southard (President of Clapham School's Board).
Jack Sander's presentation was entitled, "Romance and Marriage: How Romantic Love Can Serve a Marriage."
Anna Schuessler's presentation was entitled, "Comfortably Numb: When Violence Stops Shocking Us."
