Heinrich and his wife Heidi grew up in a small town one hour south of Johannesburg, South Africa. After high school, Heinrich completed a degree in accounting and moved to the Chicago area in 1997, where he worked for Deloitte Consulting. The Johnsens have three children; all of whom have attended Clapham School. Their two eldest children graduated from Clapham in 2021 and 2022. Heinrich currently serves on the elder board at College Church in Wheaton, and as president and owner of Christian Art Gifts.
